iGulu F1 Master Mode: Brewing All-Grain Beer Like a Pro!
Introduction
In my first experience with the iGulu F1, I brewed one of their beer kits straight out of the box, and it was my simplest brew day ever. This time, I decided to test the machine further. Instead of relying on a kit, I brewed my own all-grain wort and used the iGulu F1 as both a fermenter and a serving system, utilizing its upgraded Master Mode.
Big shout out to iGulu for sponsoring the accompanying video. I’m sharing my personal thoughts and experiences with this innovative device. Let’s dive into what makes the iGulu F1 so versatile and how it performed with an all-grain Munich Dunkel!
From Beer Kits to All-Grain Brewing
In my first iGulu F1 video, I focused on using one of their beer kits, which made brewing incredibly simple. The process was perfect for beginners, and the machine handled everything seamlessly.
This time, I challenged the system with an all-grain recipe. I managed the mashing and boiling traditionally, then transferred the wort to the iGulu F1 for fermentation and serving. This approach let me test its capabilities with a more advanced brewing method.

Master Mode: Customizing the Process for Munich Dunkel
One of the standout features of the iGulu F1 is its pressurized fermentation capability, which allows for faster and hotter fermentation—a big advantage for lagers. For this Munich Dunkel, I used BF27 Lager yeast, which thrives under these conditions.
Here’s the non-traditional fermentation schedule I followed:
- Stage 1: 18°C for 2 days
- Stage 2: 19°C for 1 day
- Stage 3: 20°C for 2 days
- Stage 4 (Diacetyl Rest): 25°C for 3 days
- Cold Crash: 2°C for 7 days
This schedule is much faster than the slow, cool fermentations typically associated with lagers. The combination of BF27 yeast and pressurized fermentation allowed me to achieve great results in a fraction of the usual time.
While the iGulu F1 automates carbonation during fermentation and serving, it doesn’t offer full manual control over pressure. This might be a limitation for advanced brewers, but the automation is still impressive.
A Convenient All-in-One System
What sets the iGulu F1 apart is how much it integrates into one device. While it doesn’t handle mashing or boiling, it consolidates fermentation, carbonation, and serving into a sleek, countertop-friendly design.
For homebrewers with limited space or those looking for efficiency, this machine is an excellent solution. It’s worth noting, however, that some of the terminology—like referring to fermentation schedules as “recipes”—might feel a bit misleading for experienced brewers. This is likely aimed at making the system approachable for beginners.

More Than Just for Brewing
While the iGulu F1 shines as a fermenter and serving system for homebrewed beer, it has another great feature: it also accommodates commercial beer kegs. This means you can use the device as a beer tap for serving your favorite commercial brews, making it a versatile addition to any beer enthusiast’s setup.
Whether you’re hosting a party or just want to enjoy a perfectly poured beer from a keg, the iGulu F1 handles it all.
Would I Recommend It?
The iGulu F1 is a fantastic tool for homebrewers who want an all-in-one solution for fermentation, carbonation, and serving. The added ability to serve commercial beer kegs only adds to its versatility. While it has some limitations—like the lack of full manual control over CO₂—it offers enough flexibility and convenience to make it a great addition to any brewing or beer setup.
Conclusion
The iGulu F1 Master Mode builds on an already impressive brewing system, offering new tools for customization and precision. Whether you’re using their beer kits, brewing your own all-grain recipes, or serving commercial beers, this machine is an innovative and exciting option for homebrewers and beer enthusiasts alike.
